横浜港と第３京浜を繋げる「横浜北線」の開通式が18日、横浜北トンネルで催され、菅義偉内閣官房長官、田中良生国土交通副大臣、黒岩祐治神奈川県知事、林文子横浜市長らが来賓として出席し、ラグビーワールドカップ２０１９、東京２０２０オリンピック・パラリンピックを支える路線への期待を、喜び・感謝を交え語った。
鋏入れの後には、陸・海・空を結ぶ北線効果を表現するコンテナ車、羽田空港リムジンバス、地元企業の配送車、水陸両用車、住民期待のメッセージカー等が、横浜港方面に向けて勢いよく走り出した。
19日には中部横断自動車道・六郷ＩＣ～増穂ＩＣ間９・３㌔が開通した。山梨県西八代郡の歌舞伎文化公園ふるさと会館で行われた式典で、主催者を代表して挨拶に立ったＮＥＸＣＯ中日本の宮池克人社長は、残る六郷ＩＣ以南の整備中区間について「１日も早い全線開通を目指す」と力強く決意を語った。
