東海環状自動車道・大野神戸ＩＣ～大垣西ＩＣ間が14日に開通することを記念して、開通区間の本線上をランニング、ウォーキングする記念イベントが11月24日、行われた。
当日は開通を待ち切れない沿線住民約７千人が参加。思い思いのペースでランニング、ウォーキングを楽しむ親子連れの姿も多く、参加した子供たちは目新しい本線上の感触を楽しみながら「こんな経験は初めて」と笑顔がはじけた。
前日の11月23日には、岐阜県大野町の大野町総合町民センターで、東京大学大学院情報学環特任教授の片田敏孝氏を講師に迎えた開通記念講演会が行われた。片田氏は東海環状自動車道と、大野神戸ＩＣ付近に昨年開駅した道の駅「パレットピアおおの」を基点とした地域防災のあり方を提言。参加した聴衆は熱心に聞き入っていた。
